Fallpakka daycare centre

Fallpakka daycare centre is in Eastern Helsinki in the immediate vicinity of a historic seat farm and an ever-expanding housing area. The differences in topography on the site range up to ten meters. A challenging starting point has successfully been turned into an advantage, by pressing the building against the slope and placing the two-storey hall at the center of the building.

Fallpakka is a five-group kindergarten, which was designed according to the guidelines of the Helsinki City Education Division and the low energy efficiency guidelines of the Helsinki City Service Buildings. The building was designed to be a public building that connects the area and that can also be used by the residents in the evenings. In addition to the group spaces, the project includes a big hall, a kitchen and staff premises.

The site was executed as an IFC project and it was completed in the summer of 2016. The Fallpakka daycare centre was featured in the book “30 Sustainable Nordic Buildings” in the autumn of 2015.
