Residential block in Hermanni
The winner of the 1999 Housing reform competition was realized with some modifications in Hermanni, Helsinki.
The competition entry is based on narrow building masses and small blocks. The block consists of three residential buildings that form an intimate courtyard. The buildings also share a common underground car park. All the apartments have large balconies with direct access to dining rooms. The largest apartments are open-ended units.
The architectural planning was made using building information modelling.
