Vantaa Courthouse renovation and extension

The Vantaa Courthouse and Police House, designed by Architect Kaarlo Leppänen and completed in 1989, is a landmark in the northern part of Tikkurila’s city center. This building is an architecturally representative example that reflects public construction in the transition between the 1980s and 1990s.

A-konsultit and AFRY Ark Studio are planning the renovation and expansion of the courthouse on behalf of Senate Properties for the use of the Ministry of Justice and agencies under the Prosecutor’s Office. The part of the courthouse with cultural and historical significance will be renovated, while the police building wing will be completely demolished and replaced with a new office wing.

The existing building will house the district court’s office spaces, in addition to newly added courtrooms alongside the renovated courtrooms. The new courtrooms will be located around the building’s atrium glass courtyard. A multi-story customer service lobby will serve as the connection between the old courthouse and the modern office wing.

The planned completion of the project is in 2026.
